Before we begin services, we like to meet our prospective clients to review our services, get to know about the child’s needs, and ensure that we are the best fit for your family. This is an opportunity for us to share a little about our services at GVLC and what an ABA program with us looks like. One of our BCBAs will schedule a time to meet with you and answer any questions you may have about our services.
After the consultation, the assessment process typically takes 2-4 weeks to complete before a set schedule of services can begin.
1. Insurance Verification – Parents
After inquiring about services, the GVLC team will provide you with an Insurance Verification Form.
2. Verification of Insurance Benefits – GVLC
Once the Insurance Verification Form is received, GVLC will verify your insurance benefits and work with your insurance company to request an authorization to complete an assessment. Typically, this takes 3-10 business days.
3. Assessment Sessions – GVLC and Parents
Once the authorization from insurance is received, GVLC will reach out to you to schedule our first and subsequent assessment sessions. There are typically 2-3 assessment sessions that typically last 60-90 minutes and are spread out over the course of a week. During this time, we will sit with you to review your child’s development, address any questions or concerns you may have, and conduct a skills assessment.
4. Review of Assessment Report – GVLC and Parents
Upon completion, your BCBA will review the assessment report with you, which includes outcomes of the skills assessment, treatment goals, and recommendation for ABA therapy hours.
5. Authorization for ABA Therapy – GVLC
Once our team has reviewed the assessment report with you, we will share the report along with a request to begin ABA therapy to your insurance company. Typically insurance companies respond in 7-14 business days.
6. Setting the Schedule – GVLC and Parents
While we wait for authorization, GVLC will work with you to create a schedule based on your child's availability and recommended therapy hours.
7. Starting ABA Therapy
ABA therapy will start with technicians getting to know your child which consist of playing, exploring your child's interests, learning the how they communicate, and finding what motivates them. Once a strong rapport is built, your child's team will begin addressing goals and progress toward those goals will be continuously monitored to ensure the best possible results are achieved.
