Getting Started

Initial Assessment

The entire process from submitting the request for an assessment to the insurance company and starting services takes 4-8 weeks depending on your availability and the insurance company.

As soon as we receive your child's diagnostic report and insurance member ID#, we will submit that to your insurance company to request an initial assessment authorization.  It usually takes 7-10 days to receive approval from the insurance company.

Once we receive the authorization, GVLC will reach out to you to schedule an appointment for the  initial assessment for the following week.  During this appointment, GVLC will complete a thorough assessment of your child to get a complete picture of the child’s abilities and family circumstances and concerns.

When the assessment report is complete and signed by the parents, the report is submitted to the insurance company for approval.  This process takes about 2-3 weeks.

As soon as we receive the approved authorization for services, GVLC will reach out to you and coordinate when to start ABA sessions. Depending on your availability, your child will be able to start services as early as the following Monday.

Individualized Treatment Plan

Based on the assessment, we develop an individualized treatment plan that reflects the child’s unique needs. Skill acquisition programs can include (but are not limited to) communication, play, self-care (toileting, dressing, showering, etc.), social skills, school readiness. As needed, Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) are conducted and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) are developed.

Age Appropriate Skill Development

Intervention focuses on building age-appropriate skills to help young children meet critical developmental milestones.

Progress Monitoring

Technicians collect real-time data during therapy sessions to track each child’s progress and to identify which therapies are working best. This data is shared with parents, and therapies may be adjusted based on data to continue or alter treatment.

Play Therapy

Using play-based and naturalistic teaching techniques, therapists work with the child to improve communication, play, self-care, social, and school readiness skills.
