Transitioning to a school environment is a significant milestone, but it can also be overwhelming for children with autism.
Our School Readiness program acts as a "bridge," simulating the structure of a classroom within the supportive environment of our center.
We focus on the foundational "learning-to-learn" skills that allow a child to thrive in a group setting, ensuring they aren't just present in class, but are actively participating.
Our curriculum is individualized but generally focuses on several key classroom success factors:
Moving smoothly from one activity to the next without distress.
Mastering the "hidden" requirements of the school day, such as managing personal belongings, independent toileting, and opening lunch containers.
Learning how to engage in age-appropriate play, take turns, and navigate recess or cooperative learning with peers.
Learning how to ask for a break, raise a hand, or seek help in a busy environment.
We don’t stop once your child starts school. Our team works closely with teachers, aides, and school administrators to ensure that the strategies working at Golden View are translated into the classroom. By coordinating with your child’s school team, we help create a consistent support system that promotes long-term academic and social success. Our BCBA-supervised team can even attend IEP meetings to ensure your child's goals align with their school's support plan.
